Life Insurance

Everyone would agree that most families with young children need life insurance. What many people don't realize is just how much life insurance they really need. I regularly talk with young couples from Allen, McKinney, Plano, Frisco, Wylie, and Murphy that have children and think $100,000 or even $250,000 in life insurance is plenty.

What would happen if your spouse passed away and you only had $100,000 in life insurance? If you had children live with you for the next 10 to 20 years  that's only $5,000 - $10,000 per year. What is equally troubling for my Collin County clients is how to pay for college. College tuition at a major Texas university is exploding in cost each year. I encourage you to include college expenses in your calculations for life insurance needs.

One good thing about life insurance is it still remains a great value for the money. I typically recommend either a 20 or 30 year life term policy for both you and your spouse.

Please don't be one of those families in Collin County I talk to on occasion that says "my spouse was planning on purchasing life insurance" or "we were planning on increasing our life insurance but we were too busy and now it's too late. I now have to sell my home and reduce my expenses to cope with my financial burdens."
